Mudhen Brewery

Where Is It? You can’t miss it... located on the main gateway into Wildwood, NJ.

Why Should I Go? MudHen Brewing Company is holding down the heart of Wildwood all year long with good vibes, high-quality beer, weekly live music, and frequent fun-filled events. From a variety of in-house craft beer to the coolest (and downright delicious) cocktail experiences, there’s something for everyone at MudHen.

The brewpub’s industrial, rustic vibe pays homage to the first passenger train in Wildwood that carried passengers from Cape May Court House to the fisherman’s village of Anglesea in 1883. As a result of the ocean’s ever-changing tides, muddy water would often wash over the tracks, causing the train to derail and passengers to be stranded for hours at a time. Locals soon nicknamed this carrier line ‘The MudHen’, after the birds that inhabited the marshlands.

In honor of the dedicated, hardworking class of people who traveled to the Five Mile Island seeking a greater living, MudHen Brewing Co. conducts a history lesson with every sip. Each beer represents a piece of the island’s history, from the 1883 IPA named after the year the rail line was established, to Captain Doug’s Porter, dedicated to Brewmaster Tony Cunha’s Pop who sailed the open sea upon the ‘Barbara Pauline’ (his commercial fishing boat named after his beloved wife).

In addition to their flagship beers, MudHen also offers popular seasonal craft selections such as fan-favorite ‘Nummy Pumpkin’ and their holiday Belgian ale, ‘Hero Boy’.

Hang out in the main dining area with a view into the 15-barrel brew house boasting giant stainless-steel fermenters and an automated canning system. For a more intimate vibe or private event, head upstairs to the lounge for a tasting by the fireplace or a nice meal overlooking the main dining room. Popular menu items include fried pickles, juicy burgers with house made hen chips, and slow cooked rack of ribs with house made coleslaw and cornbread.

Jam out or challenge your crew in a game of bean toss in their Biergarten area, equipped with ample seating, a lively bar scene, and a stage for live music. Have a pup? Visit our pet friendly patio lined with pine trees, complete with fire pits and covered seating.

Wherever you choose to dine, expect a delicious meal from a casual and fresh fare menu with friendly service from experienced staff.
