Peace Pie
Where Is It? Carpenter’s Lane between Jackson and Decatur.
Why Should I Go? Once upon a time, Jerry Klause made what he called an ice cream pecan pie lasagna for family and friends. And, boy, did they love it. Jerry realized he had stumbled across a delicious creation that would cater to the masses and the Klause family set out to share their sandwiches at farmers markets and festivals.
In 2015, the first brick-and-mortar establishment opened in Cape May. The growing success of Peace Pie led to the opening of five more locations — Lambertville, New Jersey, Ventnor City on the Jersey Shore; two in Charleston, South Carolina; and St Augustine, Florida. Peace Pies are also available at several local restaurants and on the Ocean City Boardwalk.
The success story continues... BuzzFeed listed Peace Pie as one of the top 25 ice cream sandwiches in the country; their Insider Dessert video shot in St Augustine went viral with more than a million views; and a Charleston store was featured on The Baker Sisters on Food Network Canada.
Insider Tip: The Peace Pie family fully support the racism is wrong campaign. They also support Doctors Without Borders and donate for each pie sold.
